Traumatic stress, whether a single event or long-term history, can impair our ability to function with resilience and ease. Stress may also lead to self-medicating with substances, which merely mask symptoms, provides no solutions, and can create more difficulties over time. Specific interventions are used to take the power out of negative memories and beliefs, while improving emotional regulation, presence in the moment, and optimism. As a first responder myself, I understand the importance of keeping a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Ghosts of deployments past, critical incidents, and cumulative stress can take its toll on our performance at work, at home, and at play. I am fully certified as an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) clinician, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and an Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) Certified Professional.
