About Barbara

Accept, choose, and take action. Those are key components of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) style I embrace. ACT therapy encourages individuals to both seek a deeper understanding of occasional unpleasant realities in the world and choose to develop new behaviors which allow them to interact more successfully within that world. Because anxiety, depression and stress can interfere with living an enriched, meaningful life and realizing your valued goals, ACT serves as a way to "reboot" your thinking. In addition, I have been trained in both Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-focused Therapy. I believe the therapist/client relationship is a unique social connection providing individuals safe space to explore their past, adjust their present, and plan for their future. I feel strongly about "team care" and collaborate with physicians/psychiatrists to maximize client health outcomes. I treat adults with anxiety, depression, autism, and those experiencing life transitions. I am an LGBTQ+ ally and work with parents of transgender children. I have experience with early career advising and career transition. I have additional training in Critical Incident Stress Management, and I am a Volunteer Mental Health Professional for the Red Cross.
