I became a therapist after a 30-year research/academic career in the U.S. and abroad, most recently in VA mental health. I have since worked with adults on the issues listed below, including their relationship impacts. Most recently, I've completed EMDR therapy basic training (first level) with additional EMDR training in dissociative experiences. While I offer standard EMDR for trauma/complex trauma processing, I also integrate other types and elements of EMDR therapy to support anxiety, grief, attachment anxiety/abandonment sensitivity, depression, self-esteem, and other issues. I am also core-skills trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT helps couples create secure emotional connections in session, and helps individuals achieve a more coherent sense of self. Additional work might include mindfulness, guided imagery, and parts-of-self or self-compassion work; all with particular attention to emotional safety and trust. Aligned with my personal values, I have volunteered as a grief group facilitator, in community-based outreach, and in hospice and end-of-life care.
