The first time meeting with a therapist can be the most challenging first step towards emotional recovery. It can provoke a certain amount of anxiety due to a number of factors such as wondering if the counselor will be a good fit and/or deciding if ready to personally commit to getting help. The most important aspect of therapy is being honest with yourself and to the therapist. This enables openness to personal challenges in order to gain insight and make behavioral changes that the individual is seeking within themselves. Alturas Counseling is a private practice owned and operated by Christina Smith, LCSW. Alturas Counseling does not employ additional clinicians but does offer clinical supervision to MSW's and LPC's.
